Teen Read Week

Our Young Adult Section just keeps on growing. Pop in during Teen Read Week and take a browse. Here's a few highlights from our collection ...

This one has to be our Book of The Month! It's an imaginative read, and the text and stunning images combine to give an insight into the world of the early cinema. There's a also intrigue and secrets in the life of twelve year old Hugo, who lives in the walls of a Paris railway station, where he fends for himself. Following a hidden message from his dead father, Hugo has a dream to repair an old mechanical man, which places his undercover life in jeopardy.

Like the Harry Potter series, this book will appeal to readers of all ages.

Socks Are Not enough by Mark Lowery

If Louise Rennison can make you laugh your tights off, then Mark Lowery can do the same for socks.

This is a hilarious read starting with a list of why Mark Swarbuck’s life is in ruins. There’s an embarrassing episode in the girl’s changing rooms with his new best friend, and his older brother going out with the girl he ‘admires’. But what really turns his life upside down is discovering that his parents are secret nudists, who want to go public. Somehow, this all seems to be Mike’s problem, and he is sent for sessions with Chas the Psychologist …

If this is your kind of read, try Sue Townsend’s Adrian Mole series next.
